Not only do you lose the feel on the coping but as your wheels roll over it they also get a layer of wax. They then transfer this to the ramp surfaces and the deck close to the lip(coping). When you do a grind and come back into the ramp you need to pump at the bottom of the transition of the ramp to keep up your speed. To do this you sort of push into the ramp as well as make any direction changes you need to make. But now that you have wax on your wheels, when you go to make the small adjust ment you end up with your board sliding out fro munder you or you feel a slight slip that makes you pull up and not get a proper pump or turn in. And then now that you are afraid to slide out you may be a bit hesatint to try to ride a sketchy trick out for fear of slaming.
