The Next in line...

My love of electronic things that could assist and entertain in everyday life started some time back. I remember buying my dad a odd address book that you could place the phone on. It would send dial tones into the phone and call the person you choose. i dont really know if it ever worked. Maybe he will be able to comment on that. The first thing I remember having was one of those digital address books that looked like a calculator. I could sink that to the PC and I had that thing pushed to what it could do. Next my eye was on a a PDA of some sort. People were starting to get cell phones at this time. I scored a Handspring visor. It was almost identical to the first Palm Pilots. I had that for almost 5 years and again pushed it to the edge of what it could do and carried it everywhere. I studied my next target carfully. I wasn't ready for a real phone yet. I didnt want to carry an MP3 player, a camera, and a pda of some sort. So I found the perfect combo in the HP iPAQ rx3715. It goes online, takes picture, plays music and videos, connects to an external GPS, made calls via Skype, worked as a tv remote. So many things it did and still can do today. Love that iPAQ. I decided that I wouldnt get something new until the perfect device came along and I was ready to dive into the cell phone world. The regular PDA phones that were our there were nice but not the device I was looking for. Then the iPhone came to be. Thats more like it wow, what an incrediable device. It was way to expensive when it came out $600 plus and i wasnt ready for the cell phone plan... Then slowley word leaked out about a phone being made by google. This was cool since I have all of my online stuff through google. So i waited through all of the iPhone hupla. I kept digging and reading what I could about the Google Phone. This is the one I would shoot for. The OS got a name... Android. Then the phone got a name the Dream by HTC. What a great name. Then almost 3 years later the phone came out as the T-Mobile G1. It didnt get the fanfair that the iPhone got but it is non-the less as good as that phone, if not better. I waited in the wings and then made the move... I'm now lovin the HTC G1. Always online, GPS, instant google account connectivity, camera, blue tooth and all kinds of goodies. I should get some more picture posts going soon too...
