Pretty cool instrument...

Ruby sings to a very light Audience...

...pretty much gone. It still doesn't look nice but it is certainly not itchy. I can feel a spot or two on my leg where I might need to hit again. For the most part the big itchy patchs are no longer itchy.

What I did is scratch the heck out of the poisen ivy pimples (which is so satisfying and you know you want to do that anyway) then rub some rubbing alcohol into the area. It appears to work.

Poison Ivy remedy...

...applied. I'll save the details until I have some healing pictures to show.

The wharehouse is a ton of fun but I enjoy the lighter sessions. I usually go non-stop and am the last one still pushing around but tonight is a good one to sit back and watch abit.

But the satirical newspaper 'Puck' actually published the first documented emoticons in 1881, and Abraham Lincoln may have even used one when writing a speech. A joint study performed by Lancaster and Manchester Metropolitan universities has concluded that so-called 'text speak,' the practice of conserving space through abbreviation and lack of punctuation, dates back to at least the early 1900s due to another form of communication with limited space: the postcard.

According to the report, Britons mailed almost 6 billion postcards between 1901 and 1910, which equates to roughly 200 per person, and the writers frequently employed shortened words and ignored punctuation. Our burn barrel...

I never thought I would want a burn barrel, that is until we moved to our current place and had a yard with trees. This year we have one and I won't have to drag leaves and sticks to a big pile, now they will just burn. It helps with the random junk 2x4s too =)

It would be in the chickens best interest to...

...get in the coop.
Something has tried and been succesful at getting one of them out of the tree and eating it. The other night something fought eith the rooster and knocked it out of the tree. I think I got out in time to see some thing flying away from the scene, maybe an owl.
So here we see the obedient hens along with the rooster (who I caught off guard) in the pen while the other two hens wait for just the right moment to spring into the tree above the coop. The did eventually avoid me and find roost in the tree...

I have not put up a picture of the Garage progress for a while. The two pieces of Machinery here propmted me to do so...

So, I finally have updated my Blog and am no longer ashamed to invite people in. I am going to go back to posting pictures and videos to my blog and have Facebook pick them up and post it to my FB profile. I want get every thing back under my Google account so I know where everything is when I want to find it.

Rooted my G1...

So what does it mean that I rooted my G1 Phone? Hmm... how best to describe it. The phone runs on the Android Operating System (OS). The OS builders , Google, have not yet unleashed everything that the OS can do. Since the OS is open source Google put the code out there for people to work with. Some of those people unlock the extra things and tweak the OS. In order to use what those hackers are doing you have to unlock or "root" your phone. The process was sort of hairy, you had to download things to your phone, use Linux command line commands on the phone, rebooting and installing various things. A couple days ago someone found a bug in the OS that allowed them to make a virtual one click rooting application.

I had wanted to try it before when it was hairy. I wanted to do this because there were things you could do with a rooted phone that would make it run smoother among other things. I wasn't worried about the process to much, I'd done Linux things before and had hacked (with help) my iPAQ to run Linux. When I saw this one click application I couldn't hold back. And it was as easy as they made it out to be. I must say that my phone is zippy-er than it's ever been. It has some extra user interface tweaks and multi-touch and native exchange email support too but, its that quick responsiveness that really makes it worth it. I also went ahead and partitioned my SD card from the command line on the phone so that I can install my applications to the SD card which saves the precious internal memory of the phone.

Redundancy...

So now that I have my recent posts showing in the right sidebar and my twitter feed to the bottom right and my friend feed to the bottom center and the blog archive in the bottom right, this is what happens.

I make a BLOG post, it shows up in the recent posts and the archive right away. So thats three places showing the same thing on my BLOG. Then twitterfeed comes along and posts the Post to twitter, it then shows up in the twitter feed bottom left, then friendfeed picks up the twitter and shows in in the bottom center section.

5 places... hmm. well that will only happen when I make a post i guess. Eh, I'll see how it works out.
